Eskom says it has suspended load shedding with effect from 05:00 on Thursday morning.
Loadshedding is set to continue throughout this weekend and will last until at least Thursday morning next week. Eskom yesterday announced loadshedding after a two-month lull.
Eskom will implement Stage 2 load shedding from nine o’clock tonight to five o’clock tomorrow morning to replenish its emergency generation reserves after breakdowns of generating units at several power stations.
The Executive Mayor of the City of Johannesburg, Mpho Moerane, says Soweto and other parts of the city will start sourcing electricity from City Power.
Eskom says it will not stop load reduction as long as communities continue with electricity theft.
