She died at Milpark hospital on Monday afternoon at the age of 81-years-old.

Deputy President David Mabuza, has described Madikizela-Mandela as a torch bearer for the ANC.

Mabuza says the ruling party will continue to uphold values embraced by the mother of the nation.

He says, “As the ANC we want to remind you that the leader we are talking about is the embodiment of our struggle. She’s the proud bearer of the stars of our liberation.”

He adds: “She’s the torch bearer of our freedom and as the NEC we hold this name in the highest esteem.”

“We respect this leader and we are saying to all of you celebrate this life. Learn what you can in this life well lived,” says Mabuza.
