Gauteng Transport MEC Jacob Mamabolo has summoned management of Putco to an urgent meeting to discuss what he says, is the increasing number of crashes involving their buses.
This comes after three separate crashes on the notorious Moloto Road in Pretoria on Wednesday in Pretoria involving Putco buses.
Another crash happened on the same road on Thursday morning.
The Department of transport says preliminary reports indicate that in all four crashes the bus drivers lost control of the buses.
Mamabolo says it cannot be right that commuters continue to be subjected to such traumatic events and loss of lives.
“Following the series of accidents involving the Putco buses and especially on the Moloto Road, and the fact that just in less than 24 hours there has been reportedly 4 accidents. My engagement with them on the discussions is that I wish we could agree on an urgent plan on how they are going to deal with this issue,” explains Mamabolo.
