The funeral service of the slain Alexandra community patroller Thulani Zuma will be held today at the San Kopano Centre in the township north of Johannesburg.

The 52-year-old, who was affectionately called “Msholozi”, died in a hail of bullets.

Attackers started to shoot indiscriminately after refusing to allow patrollers to search them at the Far East Bank.

Zuma and two other people were fatally wounded more than a week ago.

Three other patrollers sustained gunshot wounds. Two suspects have been arrested.

The ward councillor Tefo Raphadu is calling for justice, “We need a working relationship between the police and the criminal justice system and the patrollers, because the problem is not the police per say.

The problem is the criminal justice system that easily release the criminals on bail. The patrollers assist with the arrest and the next day the person is out on bail, we just see the person out.”
