Global security, trade and investment will dominate talks when President Cyril Ramaphosa hosts his Finnish counterpart President Sauli Niinistö on Tuesday.

Niinistö is in South Africa for a state visit and will be hosted at the Union Buildings in Pretoria.

Amongst other issues, the two leaders will discuss the Russia-Ukraine conflict and its implications for the global security architecture. They will also engage with the business sector to boost economic ties between the two countries.

Finland’s ambassador to South Africa, Anne Lammila says, “It’s a long-standing partnership. Finland and the Finish people were supporting South Africans in their liberation movement and also when your democracy was very young, our people were there to help you and South Africa was one of the development corporation partners for a long time.”

“So we want to have political engagement, we want to have economic corporation and also commercial ties,” adds Lammila.
