As Child Protection Week draws to an end, President Cyril Ramaphosa has reacted to the deaths of five children in a fire in the Masiya informal settlement in Philippi in Cape Town.
He says the tragedy brings home the dangers that thousands of vulnerable South Africans are facing, especially during winter.
The incident happened around midnight on Friday.
It also destroyed 10 structures and displaced 30 residents of the informal settlement.
