The trial against Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema and his co-accused Adriaan Snyman continues in the East London Magistrate’s Court.

Malema is accused of discharging a firearm in public during the party’s 5th anniversary celebrations held at Sisa Dukashe Stadium in 2018.

Snyman was Malema’s bodyguard at the time. The previous State witness in the matter, Nkosikho Mzuku, who was a police spokesperson stationed at the Mdantsane Cluster was accused of not being a dependable witness as he allegedly deviated from the questions posed by Malema’s legal representative to him.

The trial is expected to go on for the entire duration of this week.

Malema, Snyman trial resumes:

Retired facial identification specialist, Amanda Steenkamp, testifying in the case says her analysis of still images proves that the people pictured, are indeed Malema and Snyman.

The images are from video footage that went viral in 2018, when Malema allegedly discharged a firearm given to him by Snyman, during the party’s 5th-anniversary celebrations in Mdantsane in the Eastern Cape.
