The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Limpopo has welcomed the decision by the provincial government to place the Public Works Department under assessment.
Last week, Premier Stanley Mathabatha announced the appointment of a team of professionals to assess issues of governance, leadership, financial management and service delivery in the department.
DA spokesperson for Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure, Risham Maharaj says there are challenges related to infrastructure and the completion of government projects in the province.
“We find the decision has come too late. The continued wasting of the province’s infrastructure year on year and delays in projects show that Mathabatha and his executive have sat idle. We hope the professional assessment can turn things around,” Maharaj explains.
