Let up in KZN after severe storms

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The South African Weather Service says KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) can expect a significant decrease in rain today. Only a 30 percent chance of showers is forecast as the week progresses.

This is likely to bring welcome respite to several communities, especially those along the KZN coast and inland areas, that have battled flooding in recent weeks.

Flood damages in KZN:

Heavy rains have left a trail of destruction, from infrastructure and roads to displacing people in low-lying areas and informal settlements.

Weather forecaster, Thandiwe Gumede, “The good news is that we do not have any warnings for the province of KwaZulu Natal. We still have 60% chances of showers and rain along the coast of KZN. As you have seen, some areas have been raining during the course of the morning and rain is expected to be on and off most of the day today. The rest of the province can expect a 30% chance of showers and rain. The good news for people in KwaZulu-Natal is that by Saturday, it looks like the chances of rain will decrease quite significantly.”
