Golden Arrow buses torched in Khayelitsha

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Two Golden Arrow buses have been set alight in Khayelitsha, Cape Town Monday morning.  This will put extra strain on commuters as some taxi operators embark on a strike in the Western Cape.

It is however unclear at this stage if the torching of the buses is related to the strike.

The strike follows a dispute with the South African National Taxi Council (Santaco) on various issues including the impact of the high fuel price and route invasions.

Golden Arrow spokesperson, Bronwen Dyke-Beyer says the buses have been completely destroyed.

She says: “Golden Arrow can confirm that two of our buses have been set alight and gutted in the Khayelitsha area. Unfortunately as a result, none of our Khayelitsha services are operating at the moment.”

“We will be keeping a very close eye on the situation and will do our best to keep all of our passengers informed,” adds Dyke-Beyer.
