Emergency Services officials are urging motorists to avoid flooded areas during the festive season after heavy rains in parts of the country, including Gauteng, Limpopo, and the Eastern Cape.
The SA Weather Service has warned that widespread showers and thundershowers are continuing over much of the country on Monday, with KZN being given a Yellow Level Two warning.

Johannesburg Emergency Services’, Robert Mulaudzi, says motorists must continue to exercise caution on the roads.

“You find motorists trying to take a chance to cross; it can be either a bridge or a road which is flooded. Especially with our public transport, we see them now and then trying to take a chance. Even if we have put up barricades, they try to remove them and take a chance to cross those areas. So, we are pleading with our motorists to exercises caution so that we can prevent incidents where vehicles might be swept away by the floods. We are told we are going to have a lot of rainfall throughout this holiday season.”
