The recent national crime statistics released last week, revealed that Johannesburg central was the country’s robbery capital.

The city has also recorded the highest number of reported cases in Gauteng, with Jeppe dubbed the province’s murder hub, while the highest number of rape and common assault cases in Gauteng were recorded in Kagiso on the West Rand.

Mayoral spokesperson Luyanda Mfeka said, “The residents of the city can now expect a monthly report from the city of Johannesburg and interventions that are being taken by JMPD, in relation to combat crime within the city and within the level of the jurisdictions.”
