It has been confirmed by the Justice Ministry that a car crash has claimed the life of another government official. Khaya Somgqeza was killed in a crash near Mthatha in the Eastern Cape.
He was the head of office for the Deputy Minister of Justice and Correctional Services, Patekile Holomisa.
This comes after the car crash death of Joburg Mayor Jolidee Matongo last weekend.
Minister of Justice Ronald Lamola says Somgqeza was a dedicated and experienced public servant with a sharp eye for detail.
Lamola says his loss leaves a void that will be difficult to fill.
Somgqeza worked as the divisional manager of International Relations in Parliament before he moved to the deputy minister’s office.
