African National Congress president Cyril Ramaphosa says the newly elected top six of the ANC is re-connecting with traditional leaders and the communities at large.

Ramaphosa has met with Limpopo’s famous Rain Queen, regent Queen Mpapatla Modjadji, at Khethagoni the royal palace on Sunday.

Ramaphosa, who is leading the top six ANC officials, is wrapping the interaction between the party and traditional leaders in Limpopo.

Security is also tight at two royal palaces for Bapedi acting king K.K. Sekhukhune and king Victor Thulare ahead of their meetings with Ramaphosa at Mohlaletsi. Security check points have been set up at both drive-ways.

Ramaphosa says it is vital for the party to engage with traditional leaders as they were a key component when the party was established over a century ago.

“This journey is going to take us the whole year… going the whole country visiting our traditional leaders, churches and communities, various other organisations, as well going to the grave sites of our departed leaders… this is part of renewal renewing the ANC.”
