Advocate Zandile Mshololo, the defence lawyer representing one of the accused in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial – is on Friday expected to begin her cross-examination of Mthokozisi Thwala in the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria.

Thwala is the second state witness to be called to testify.

He was present during the shooting of Meyiwa at the home of singer Kelly Khumalo’s home in Vosloorus, south-east of Johannesburg in October 2014.

On Thursday, defence lawyer, Advocate Zithulele Nxumalo questioned the credibility of Thwala during his testimony. This after Thwala said that Longwe Twala was the first to run out the house before the intruder’s gun went off.

However, Nxumalo said there was a statement that contradicted this version.

Nxumalo: “According to the warrant officer, he says he interviewed Twala, Twala gave him a similar description of what happened at the scene. He saw a scuffle between the suspect A and deceased. After hearing shots, he ran out to look for help. It says that Longwe was in the house when shots were fired.”

Mthokozisi: “I hear but I dispute that.”
