Grade 12 learners at Maseala Progressive High School outside Polokwane in Limpopo are celebrating after scoring 98% in their Independent Examination Board (IEB) results.
88 matric learners sat for the final exams.
Some learners who passed have expressed their happiness.
“I’m so excited, I’m thrilled; I am overwhelmed, because of the results that I have produced. I never thought a person like me would produce such kind of results. I’m going to varsity to study. l am going to study law.”
“I’m feeling overwhelmed I could not sleep last night, but now I am grateful that I was able to pass,” adds another matriculant.

The IEB has achieved an overall pass rate of 98.46% in the 2023 National Senior Certificate examinations.
The pass rate is slightly higher than the 2022 NSC pass rate of 98.42%.
In a statement, the Board says 88.59% of the learners achieved an entry to degree study, compared to 89.32% in 2022.
