The South African Weather Service says severe thundershowers will hit several parts of Gauteng including the south of Johannesburg and Vereeniging in the Vaal.
Emergency services personnel have urged residents living in low-lying areas to monitor water levels and move to higher ground where necessary.
Thundershowers are also expected in Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal.
Johannesburg Emergency Management Services has also urged motorists to exercise caution.
