Reading Time: < 1 minute

Police Minister Fikile Mbalula says the position of Hawks head has been advertised.

This follows the Constitutional Court’s dismissal of retired General Berning Ntlemeza’s application for leave to appeal his removal.

He says an advertisement for the vacancy has been published and the finality of the process is expected before the end of February 2018.

He says, “An independent interviewing panel will be appointed to advise me on fit and a proper shortlist of candidates to choose from and in this regard I invite our members and all South Africans who have this career passion to apply. The closing date for application to reach my office is the 9th February 2018.”

Meanwhile, Mbalula says former crime intelligence head, Richard Mdluli, has been sacked.

Mdluli was suspended in 2011 following his arrest on charges related to the murder of his lover’s husband Oupa Ramogibe.

Mdluli was earning a full salary with benefits, costing the taxpayer more than R10 million since his suspension.
