Myeni to be subpoenaed to parliament

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Former SA Airways (SAA) board chair Dudu Myeni is to be subpoenaed after she failed to arrive at the Eskom Inquiry into state capture being held in Parliament.

Myeni on Wednesday morning sent an sms to the inquiry chairperson stating that her lawyer was overseas and she still need to check the legality of her appearing.

Myeni will be the second person to be subpoenaed after former deputy Public Enterprises Minister Ben Martins was forced to appear earlier this year.

Former Eskom board chair Zola Tsotsi in 2017 claimed Myeni had told him at a private meeting who should be suspended from the Eskom board.

She was allegedly acting for former President Jacob Zuma.

Chairperson of the Inquiry Zukiswa Rantho said they wrote her a letter inviting her to the Inquiry and she responded by sending an apology via SMS to the Committee’s Secretary that she would be unavailable. In her response she said she is waiting to be guided by her lawyer on how to respond to the invitation by Parliament.
