Ben Martins summoned before Eskom Parliamentary inquiry

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Public Enterprises Deputy Minister Ben Martins will receive a subpoena to appear before the Eskom Parliamentary inquiry into state capture on Wednesday next week.

Committee chairperson Zukisa Rantho says they are just awaiting National Assembly Speaker Baleka Mbete’s signature.

Martins and former Prasa CEO Lucky Montana are both expected to testify in the inquiry on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.

Martins initially requested to be heard by the committee after he was implicated by suspended Eskom legal Adviser Susan Daniel during the inquiry. But when he had to appear in December last here he decided to make a written submission.

Rantho says he will now be forced to appear.

“The Deputy Minister will be summoned to the committee because when he was invited he rejected the invitation. Therefore he is going to get the summons. We are just waiting for the Speaker of Parliament to sign the summons,” says Rantho.

While Martins is expected on Wednesday, Montana will take the stand on Tuesday afternoon.
