IFP appeals for swift arrest after councillor killed

The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in KwaZulu-Natal is calling for the swift arrest of those responsible for the killing of a party councillor in KwaMambulu near Kranskop on Friday night.

Mfanzo Nzuza was gunned down in his home by unknown assailants.

He was the ward two councillor in the Maphumulo Municipality.

The murder comes with just over a week to go until the general elections on May eighth.

The party’s provincial spokesperson on community safety, Blessed Gwala has also appealed to members of the public to assist police in their investigations.

“Our councillor is a new councillor who represented Ward 2 since 2016, and up to now we are not sure what happened but we rely on the people who can provide information to the police. We request as the IFP that the police leave no stone unturned in making sure that the assailant to apprehended and our thoughts and prayers are with the Nzuza family.”
