The Independent Examinations Board (IEB) will release its matric results at midnight on Tuesday.

About 11 000 matric students at private schools sat for the IEB exams, where the pass rate is normally around 98%.

Independent Examinations Board Chief Executive, Anne Oberholzer, says they expect the 2017 class to continue to match the high standard.

“I’m sure the learners will have put in the work they needed to do and I’m confident that the pass rate will remain more or less as it has been. Certainly, we aim to emphasise the understanding that sits behind the knowledge that children have, so that by the time they get to tertiary studies they are able to learn concepts rather than just learning facts,” adds Oberholzer

Meanwhile, Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga will announce the National Senior Certificate Examination Results on Thursday.
