Chairperson of Parliament’s Home Affairs Portfolio Committee, Hlomani Chauke says the committee will on Tuesday aim to clarify whether proper policies are in place to manage the Fireblade Aviation private terminal at OR Tambo International Airport.

Home Affairs Minister, Malusi Gigaba, is to appear before the committee to answer questions on the agreement with Fireblade about the terminal.

Both the courts and the Public Protector have found that Gigaba lied under oath about the agreement.

Chauke explains, “What we want to achieve at the end of our engagement will be to make sure that the provisions that the state is providing to the Fireblade are properly managed in the contract, or there are proper policies in place to make sure that the state does not incur costs in vain so that public monies are accounted for.”
