Chinese President Xi JinPing has commended the country for putting together the best logistical arrangements for the hosting of the 10th BRICS Summit.

The summit will begin in Sandton north of Johannesburg later on Wednesday morning.

The Chinese president’s participation in the summit was preceded by a state visit on Tuesday where he announced a huge investment into the local economy of over R190 billion.

The bulk of the money will go towards infrastructure development projects with Eskom, signing a government guarantee loan from the Bank of China totalling R30 billion.

The summit will be attended by other BRICS leaders from Russia, India and Brazil as well as Argentina and Jamaica.

The Chinese president says they are behind South Africa in hosting the summit.
