African National Congress (ANC) President Cyril Ramaphosa has arrived at Luthuli House to address crowds gathered to celebrate the victory of the ruling party .

Some streets in the area have been closed off. ANC spokesperson Pule Mabe says:

“A lot of these celebrations are going to be happening throughout provinces. We are actually going out to thank our volunteers. You will know that we as the leadership couldn’t have done it alone without the courage of our people. The people you see here these ANC members, supporters, volunteers, we can’t build this country without them.”

ANC supporters have gathered in their hundreds outside Luthuli House to celebrate the election victory. They say their party still carries the hopes of the many in the country despite losing support again in this general election.
