The University of Fort Hare murder case has been postponed to the 26th of this month when legal arguments will resume in the Dimbaza Magistrate’s Court in the Eastern Cape.
Eskom’s rolling blackouts disrupted court proceedings on Friday.
The defence Advocate Ronnie Lesele, representing suspects Bongani Peter and Wanini Khuza, argued that his clients deserved to be released on bail. He said the representations that the state had made through the investigating officer, Accassius Mokeona, are worrying.
“There are professors and academics but before you, we do not see any professor, we don’t see any academic. Your Worship, as l stated at the beginning it is clear Your Worship and so glaring that professors are involved but we don’t see them they just chose to arrest these applicants because they are soft targets.”

The deceased include Petrus Loots and Mboneli Vesele, the former bodyguard of the university’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Sakhela Buhlungu.
