Free State Umbrella Fire Protection Association says there are three active fires that are currently still burning in the province.
Association General Manager Johann Breytenbach has reported that the fire between Theunissen and Winburg is still burning.
He says a landowner and her employee were reportedly seriously injured in a burn-over incident following the Verkeerdevlei fire.
Breytenbach says uncontrollable high-risk fire is also active in Clarens.
“The balloon fire in Clarens only started burning yesterday afternoon but it is currently out of control. Currently the balloon fire in Clarens area is our high-risk fire. There are three working fire teams assisting with operation suppression but it’s very difficult, it’s raining in the mountains. No additional serious injuries or property losses report has been received today,” says Breytenbach.
