Swallows could top the log as league action resumes

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Moroka Swallows FC, promoted to the DSTV Premiership last season, have a chance to go top of the log when they take on newcomers, TS Galaxy, in a league match at the Dobsonville Stadium on Saturday evening. It will be the first meeting between the teams in the Premiership.

Swallows are third on the log, but with the same number of points as log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns and Baroka FC, who are second.

They all have seven points with three wins and a draw.

Sparks are expected to fly as both Swallows and Galaxy are new in the elite league. Galaxy are seventh on the log after a win and two draws.

The highlight of Saturday’s fixtures will be the match between Orlando Pirates and Supersport United at the Orlando Stadium. Pirates recently knocked Kaizer Chiefs out of the MTN8, but are two places below SuperSport in sixth place with one win and two draws.

Golden Arrows will go into their match with Chiefs at the Suger Ray Xulu Stadium with a slight advantage. Arrows have not lost a league match and are fifth on the log on five points.

Amakhosi are 11th after winning one, losing one and drawing one.

The match between Stellenbosch FC and Chippa United can go any way. Both sides will be hoping to move into the top eight bracket when they meet at the Danie Craven Stadium.

Black Leopards take on Maritzburg United at the Thohoyandou Stadium. All these matches take place on Saturday.

Then on Sunday, Cape Town City welcome Bloemfontein Celtic at the Cape Town Stadium.

Baroka will visit Tshakuma FC at the Thohoyandou Stadium and defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns take on AmaZulu.
