Five suspects are expected to appear in the Soshanguve Magistrate’s Court today in connection with the New Year’s Day murders in Jukulyn, Soshanguve, north of Pretoria.

Four people,  including 14-year-old Vuyolwethu Ziwela and her uncle Mpho Kgobotlo, a police officer, were fatally shot by armed men travelling in two separate vehicles.

Two of the accused are expected to apply for bail, while the other three will make their first appearance.

According to eyewitnesses, the attackers targeted a group of individuals sitting inside a car outside Ziwela’s residence in Soshanguve Block P.

The suspects were arrested a few days later in different areas around Pretoria. Three firearms, including an AK-47 and two pistols, were confiscated during the arrests.
