President Cyril Ramaphosa has lauded the Soweto Gospel Choir once again and described them as experts in the entertainment industry. The President received the choir in Johannesburg on Thursday morning.

The choir has returned from the United States with their latest Grammy. The Soweto Gospel Choir now has three Grammys to their name.

The multi award-winning gospel group scooped up the Best World Music Album at February’s Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. Delighted, the group says this is the tip of the iceberg.

President Ramaphosa has dubbed them a national jewel and says that he was impressed when the choir was nominated for the awards. The President also thanked the group for flying the country’s flag high in the international arena.

The group won their first two Grammys in 2007 and 2008. They have various other accolades in their 17 year existence including an Emmy award.
