South Africans have taken to social media to express their outrage regarding the announcement by Finance Minister Tito Mboweni on the e-toll system.
Mboweni says government has decided to retain the user-pay principle amid ongoing resistance in Gauteng. He encouraged road users to pay e-tolls.
The Minister delivered his Medium-Term Budget Policy statement to Parliament on Wednesday.
On Twitter, people have posted messages saying they will not be paying their bills… calling it a failed system.
The Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (OUTA) has meanwhile said it will continue to fight against e-tolls until it is cancelled. OUTA CEO Wayne Duvenage spoke to the SABC:
