Seven political parties that are represented at local municipalities in Limpopo and the North West have decided to contest next year’s elections under one umbrella body. The parties will contest under the name, Forum for Service Delivery. Members of the party announced the partnership at Polokwane in Limpopo.

The new political structure was formed in September. The Forum for Service Delivery is a partnership involving seven political parties. All member parties are currently represented in local government.

“These parties are coming together having seats in various municipalities across the province. The political parties coming together are as follows, Forum for Service Delivery, Thabazimbi Residents Association, Thabazimbi Forum for Service Delivery, Magoshi Tshwaraganang Movement Abahlali and Others, This Move Presents,” says Dr. Mbahare Kekana, Forum for Service Delivery President.

The party is yet to present a formal manifesto before the general elections as they plan to contest nationally in six provinces. Their key focus is areas that are centralized towards improving the delivery of services.

“At the top of our issues which will be confronting will be as follows, one unemployment, scrapping of age limit on job opportunities and learnerships, lack of service delivery, issue of land, load shedding, water and sanitation, electoral reform and gender-based violence,” Kekana added.

The new structure has extended an invitation to other parties that are willing to join its movement.
