Senzo Meyiwa murder suspects named

All five suspects accused in the murder case of Senzo Meyiwa say they do not understand why they have been arrested in connection with the murder.

The five suspects involved in the murder case of former Bafana Bafana captain and Orlando Pirates Striker Senzo Meyiwa have been named.

They are Muzikawulahlelwa S’tembu Sibiya, Bongani Sandiso Ntanzi, Mthobisi Prince Mncube, Mthokosizeni Ziphozonke Maphisa and Sifikuhle Nkani Ntuli.

Their charges include murder, attempted murder, robbery with aggravating cirumstances and the illegal possession of a firearm.

The suspects arrived at the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court east of Johannesburg under heavy police guard and were quickly led into the court.

Supporters of the Meyiwa family also gathered outside court.

Crowds of onlookers including football supporters waited eagerly outside the court to catch a glimpse of the suspects.

Members of AfriForum including former NPA prosecutor Gerrie Nel are present in court. Meyiwa’s brother Sifiso is also present.

The suspects were arrested in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal on Monday.

Meyiwa was shot in front of his girlfriend musician Kelly Khumalo at her home in Vosloorus in 2014.
