A strike at the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) is underway, with many permanent staff not reporting for early-morning duty.
Programmes on SAfm and some other stations will be affected.
A meeting on Thursday between the SABC management and the two workers union, the Broadcasting, Electronic, Media & Allied Workers Union (Bemawu) and the Communication Workers Union (CWU) resolved to proceed with the mediation between the parties.
The unions are demanding a 10% salary increase.
The SABC has indicated it cannot afford the increases due to its current financial challenges.
Bemawu spokesperson Hannes du Buisson says despite the on-going mediation, they decided to strike on Thursday.
