Ruling on cadre deployment legality expected tomorrow

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The High Court in Pretoria is expected to deliver judgment in the Democratic Alliance’s (DA) constitutional challenge of the African National Congress’s (ANC)  long-standing cadre deployment policy tomorrow.

In January last year, a full bench heard the DA’s application to declare cadre deployment unconstitutional and unlawful.

The opposition party argued that the policy was at the root of failures at state-owned enterprises.

The ANC, which opposed the application, argued that the DA sought to limit the ruling party’s right to freedom of expression.

This expected judgment follows the DA’s latest victory in securing the cadre deployment records of the ANC after the governing party lost its final appeal bid in the matter at the Constitutional Court.
