Rob Ferreira Hospital launches investigation after lift malfunction.

An investigation is underway at Rob Ferreira Hospital in Mbombela, Mpumalanga, to determine the cause of a lift malfunction.

The incident occurred on Monday when the lift, carrying 13 health employees, fell from the first floor to the basement. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the occupants of the malfunctioning lift.

However, according to Dumisani Malamule, spokesperson for the provincial health department, the affected employees are receiving psychological support to cope with the incident.

Malamule states, “There are thirteen people that were in a lift that suddenly malfunctioned, losing power, which then subsided down from the first floor to the basement. On further investigation, we then found that those that were inside were then rushed to casualty and they were all assessed, and then it was established that no one was injured.”
