Queen Nosizwe Matanzima laid to rest

The Queen Mother of AbaThembu baseRhoda in the Eastern Cape has been laid to rest. Her funeral service was held at Qamata Great Place in Cofimvaba.

The 78-year-old Queen Nosizwe Matanzima passed away two weeks ago after a long illness.

She is the sister-in-law of the late Ngangomhlaba Matanzima, one of the founding members of the Eastern Cape House of Traditional leaders.’

The queen mother has been described as a humble and selfless community builder, who attended to the needs of the poor.

Family spokesperson, Mvulayehlobo Matanzima says her passing is a huge blow to the community at large.

“She was very proud to be a member of this family. She was an ambassador of the family at all levels. Wherever she went, we heard beautiful stories about the role she played. She would take care of those people who are very poor and we are very proud of that attitude. She was very proud and she was respected by the community and the Matanzima family as a whole.”
