Several roads in Ekurhuleni on Gauteng’s east rand have been closed of to traffic due to protest action.
Affected areas include Vosloorus, Germiston and Tsakane.
Reasons behind the protests are still unknown at this stage, however, police are monitoring the situation.
Ekurhuleni metro police spokesperson Kobedi Mokheseng says, “We are currently dealing with a few protest actions in Vosloorus, between Kwa-thema and Tsakane and Germiston since 4am this morning.”
He says, “The R103 and Barry Marais intersection in Vosloorus, Vlakfontein road by Duduza taxi rank and the intersection of lower Boksburg and 9th are blocked with rocks, burning tyres and rubble.”
