Reading Time: < 1 minute

Race is no longer a key factor in determining poverty levels in the country. That’s according to a new report released by the Minister of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, Nkosazana Dlamini- Zuma on poverty.

Dlamini- Zuma outlined the contents of a study into poverty and inequality in South Africa, which her department together with Stats SA and the World Bank conducted.

She spoke at the launch of the report in Pretoria on Tuesday.

Dlamini-Zuma says poverty remains chronic in a country characterized by few high income earners and a relatively small middle class.
