Over a hundred suspects were arrested in the east of Ekurhuleni for various crimes committed at the weekend.
The police’s Thivulawi Tshilate says the number includes arrests for murder, assault, rape, dealing and possession of drugs and possession of stolen property.
“Out of the operations that were conducted – visible policing, sector deployment and chasing of wanted suspects by the detectives – it lead to the arrests of the suspects. The arrested suspects will appear before various magistrates’ courts within the cluster. The cluster commander, Major General Mbele appreciates all the effort and dedication and commitment from the members that are ensuring that the community of Ekurhuleni east are safe and secure.”
