Pirates are currently preparing to take on Cape Town City in a MTN8 first round game

Orlando Pirates have so far signed six players, including the acquisition of former Bidvest Wits player, Thabang Monare, during pre-season.

They are currently preparing to take on Cape Town City in a MTN8 first-round match at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday.

Monare’s signing this week is surely going to give head coach Josef Zinnbauer a selection headache. There’s great depth among the midfielders with players such as Nkanyiso Zungu, Fortune Makaringe, Siphesihle Ndlovu, Linda Mtambo and Ben Motswari all fit and ready to play.

However, Zinnbauer says the new players are not all 100% fit.

The Buccaneers beef up squad

In September, Orlando Pirates beefed up their squad with the announcement of Terrence Dzvukamanja and Collins Makgaka ahead of the start of the 2020/21 season.

News broke out on the club’s website that Dzvukamanja has put pen to paper having agreed to a three-year deal with the Buccaneers.

This comes after the announcement of the signing of Thulani Hlatshwayo and Deon Hotto Kavendji from the now-defunct Bidvest Wits on Monday.

Makgaka joins the club from Baroka FC. The 24-year-old is an attacking midfielder who spent five seasons with Bakgakga.
