Reading Time: 2 minutes

Labour and Employment Minister, Thulas Nxesi says he is shocked by the brutal killing of three Bizana Post Office female employees in the Eastern Cape. They were shot at close range while on duty at Jaca village outside Flagstaff.

Nxesi visited Bizana Post Office where he was flooded with complaints from customers some of whom say they spent three nights sleeping in a queue – just to get service. The Minister says the Post Office needs to be restructured to be able to render quality services to the people.

“Shocking to say the women dedicated themselves, dedicated their lives to servicing our people. To servicing the poor in this region. They ended up being the victims of criminals. But how the events unfolded because there was a security company. As to what happened I think I will leave that matter to the police who are going to be doing the investigation. ”

Residents say they spend many days and nights in the queue and they end up being victims of criminality and now want government to close the Post Office. This resident wanted to remain anonymous.

“We do not have a Post Office here. We are victimized. We are robbed and it is falling apart. You are saying you are going to fix it, how are you going to to fix it because it is falling look around yourself. It’s an abandoned building. Why don’t you just close it down and take us back to the banks because you guys are failing us.”
