Murder suspect returns to court as trial resumes in Barberton

The trial of a 38-year-old man accused of killing his girlfriend and attempting to dispose of her body will resume today at the Barberton Magistrates’ Court in Mpumalanga.

Veli Thwala, the accused, was apprehended in February 2023 before he could discard the body at a local dumping site. Residents became suspicious when they noticed blood dripping from a bag placed inside a trolley, leading to Thwala’s capture. He has remained in custody since his arrest.
