President Cyril Ramaphosa has dismissed suggestions that his visit to Mpumalanga today is an African National Congress (ANC) election campaign disguised as government’s Presidential Imbizo.
He is accompanied by several ministers in Emalahleni for the 12th District Development Model Presidential Imbizo.

Ramaphosa’s entourage will tackle the water crisis that has ravaged the province recently.
He says in as much as the country is going to elections in two months, this does not mean that the government has ceased to exist.
Ramaphosa says, “We have been having Imbizos for the past five years and there was no idea that these were electioneering initiatives and the work of government cannot stop because we have got an election coming.
“When I go to an election, I wear my ANC T-shirt and all that, but here I have come as President of the Republic, which I have been doing for the past five years; going to interface with our people and these Imbizos are so beneficial because we listen and hear what people have to say without any electioneering and people from different parties come and put their views forward and follow up.”
