Motorists travelling in City Deep, Johannesburg, are advised to avoid Heidelburg Road due to protest action.
The road has been blocked off to traffic by protestors with burning tyres and rocks. It’s understood that residents from a block of flats in the area are protesting after the electricity was cut off in their building.
“There is a protest on Heidelburg road, outside the flats near the City Deep market in Johannesburg, where there are rocks and burning tyres on the road surface. Motorists should avoid Heidelburg Road going past the market at the moment and can use the N12 or M2 as alternative routes as staff from City Power are currently working to restore electricity at the flats,” says Wayne Minaar, Johannesburg Metro Police Spokesperson.
