The mother of a 13-year-old girl from Ritchie in the Northern Cape who was allegedly raped by their neighbour says her daughter’s life will never be the same.
She alleges that the 60-year-old man lured the young woman to his shack earlier in the week and raped her.
The mother says the man, who remains in police custody, was like family to them.
She says she is seeking justice for her daughter.
“I am in pain because this has not happened to me before in all my 38 years of life. This is not something I want to happen to me or anyone else. When it first happened, he told her not to tell anyone and not to tell me. As a mother, you don’t mess with my children in that way.”
