The Umkhonto we Sizwe Military Veterans Association (MKMVA) has denounced in the strongest possible terms, calls for President Jacob Zuma to step down.

There are growing calls for Zuma to resign and for newly-elected ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa to take over.

MKMVA President Kebby Maphatsoe says the newly-elected National Executive Committee must avoid calling for Zuma to step down.

“We are saying the national conference of the ANC never discussed issues about the president of the ANC. We are surprised when we hear some people saying the president must step down. The message from the national conference was that there must be unity in the ANC and the issue of slates must be dealt with so that we can win the 2019 election,” explains Maphatsoe.
