Many political parties headed back to the drawing board

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The scale of the poor performances exceeded expectations; many political parties will be going back to the drawing board to evaluate their performances.

While for some who had seats in Parliament, it will be a sad goodbye.  For those taking up seats for the first time, the excitement is overload.

A sense of sadness prevails after months of campaigning, debates, endless press conferences and speeches supporting different agendas.

The mood at the Results Operation Centre in Pretoria was far from joyous, even before the final results were presented.

It appears to be of  little concern, the shattered dreams of other parties.

Irritation and negativity has invaded the space, possibly the same feelings affecting most of their supporters.

But if the problems can be overcome why not go ahead with full energy.

The low participation of the youth compounded the situation.

Young people’s enthusiasm about elections seems to have diminished and voter apathy has grown.
