Magudumana’s chances of obtaining bail are slim: Analyst

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Legal Analyst Dikeledi Moeti says Dr Nandipha Magudumana has slim chances of been granted bail.

The Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court is currently sitting on its second day for Magudumana’s bail application.

Moeti says Magudumana’s affidavit did not take the state into confidence in convincing the court to be released on bail.

She explains that the absence of a permanent address for the accused and her reliance on staying with friends didn’t contribute positively to her chances of being granted bail.

Moeti says, “The issue of that she is going to stay with a friend and the issue that she’s been abducted by the accused number five to Tanzania, that shows that she does not even have a remorse at all and by shaking her head of what she did to the community or to the people of South Africa. The other issue that the NPA has addressed the issue of the fingerprints. You can’t change your fingerprint, it links her directly that one. So the chances of getting bail according to our South African law it’s very slim.”
