President Cyril Ramaphosa has inaugurated South Africa’s first trade shipments under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) at the Port of Durban in KwaZulu-Natal.

This implementation aims to diversify exports, boost productive capacity, accelerate growth, create more jobs, and promote economic inclusion in South Africa and across the globe.

President Ramaphosa, alongside the Minister of Trade, Industry, and Competition, Ebrahim Patel, are amongst the guests to officially inaugurate the first shipment under the preferential terms of the AFCFTA.

South Africa is the first among the four Southern African Customs Union (SACU) countries practically realising the AfCFTA Agreement.
